Regency decided to play host to a major-league tournament, with the big ones being for MvC2 (49 players) and CvS2 (22 players). To sweeten the pot, entry fees for the games were set at $10, which made for some serious stakes: MvC's first place prize was $300, and the CvS2 top prize was $130. The day also included a Third Strike and last-minute Guilty Gear XX tourney. Adding up all the tourney pots and the prizes RFC added in, there was a total of $1,000 up for grabs, making it one of the richest single days seen in Southern California for quite a while.
